Why Perfect Is Overrated

Any perfectionists out there? Maybe you can relate... I used to think I had to be perfect and have all the stars aligned before I could take action. This thought pattern would show up in many areas of my life, but this past year in particular I noticed it in regards to my body. I have lived in many different versions of my body, with varying degrees of health and varying shapes and sizes. Recently I have been in great health, but at a size that took some getting used to after competing for two years. Because of this, I found myself creating self-imposed limits about what I could and couldn't do. I had been wanting to take more photos for social media, because doing yoga photo shoots makes me really happy. But I kept putting it off and waiting until either my body changed or I felt more comfortable in it.

Without realizing it, I had been sending myself the message that I needed to be a certain size in order to do yoga or take photos or to be seen and accepted. So I decided to change that narrative. I decided to embrace the body that I have and to do the things I love simply because I deserve to. We all do. I have had many clients who have put their lives on hold until they lose weight or until they feel attractive. News flash: you don't have to wait a second longer to have the life you want to have! At the end of the day, there are countless more important things to worry about than a number on the scale. So stop waiting for perfect, and start showing up for life again. Open your heart, take the risk...I promise you won't regret it.
